What is a “Network Member”?
Network members are individuals tasked with helping us fill our Nehemiah Action Assemblies with people who are interested in doing justice in Sedgwick County by urging local officials to take action on our research-backed solutions. Each person is affliated with one of our 40+ faith communities, either by being a member of those congregations or being invited into the network by someone in one of those congregations.
Network members have a few responsibilities throughout our yearly cycle to ensure success:
- Participate in your local congregation’s listening cycle in the fall to voice your own concerns about our community.
- Attend 4 events throughout our yearly cycle:
- The Community Problems Assembly in the fall to vote on which issues we will cover each year.
- The Solutions Rally in the spring to hear what research-backed solutions we are bringing to local officials at our most important event of the year.
- The Nehemiah Action Assembly in the spring, our most important event, to show our local officials we mean business about the issues and solutions we are presenting to them.
- The Justice Ministry Celebration in the summer to celebrate our achievements and cap off our year with some joy.
- Invite 9 people to the Nehemiah Action Assembly in the spring.
- While this might seem like a lot, we ask that you invite 9 people so that you get 6 “confirmations”, and 3 people to actually attend the event with you!
- Optional: Donate $200 (or what you are able) each year to help support our non-profit.
What is a “Team Lead”?
Team leads are representatives of their congregation who organize their local network members. They receive information directly from Justice Together’s organizers to disseminate amongst the members they’re in charge of. Team members also help hold their network members accountable by reminding them of upcoming events, and checking in with their members about the status of their 9 invitees to the Nehemiah Action Assembly.
Team members attend the same events and have the same responsibilities as the network members, plus occasional additional meetings with other team members and our main organizers. This schedule of meetings is set and communicated at the beginning of each yearly cycle.
