As he approaches 20 years in this field, Louis has helped launch two worker resource centers, a statewide grassroots electoral project, and has organized and consulted a multitude of coalitions, campaigns, and initiatives. He has worked as an organizer, consultant, trainer, director, and executive director for organizations of diverse constituencies on the local, state, and national levels.
Wherever he serves, Louis thrives in his commitment to extend to others the affirmation, dignity, and transformational empowerment afforded to him through community organizing.
Emira Chavira
Associate Organizer
Born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico, Emira migrated to the United States in 1985 and lived as an undocumented immigrant for 13 years. After more than a decade of navigating the complex immigration system, she achieved U.S. citizenship. A mother of two, Emira’s commitment to advocacy began in 2000, where she championed issues such as driver’s licenses, in-state tuition, and workers’ rights. Her leadership was notably marked by leading a 2,000-person statewide rally in 2004.
In 2007, Emira became the Leadership Development Director at Hispanos Unidos in Kansas, helping over 300 individuals prepare for U.S. citizenship and leading Democracy Schools and leadership retreats. In 2012, she co-founded The Seed House ~ Casa de la Semilla in Wichita, Kansas, to empower grassroots leaders. After a brief hiatus during which she worked as an ESOL paraprofessional and parent liaison, Emira joined Justice Together as an Associate Organizer in June 2023, continuing her dedication to social justice and community empowerment.
Jon M. Ramirez
Administrative Assistant
Jon has been with Justice Together since its initial public launch on November 9, 2023 when he publicly spoke at that inaugural assembly on the mental health struggles of his spouse in the past. Eventually, Jon became a member of the JT Mental Health Steering Committee. In addition, Jon became a JT Board Member. Jon has also been one of the JT Team Leaders at FIrst Unitarian Universalist Church.
Prior to becoming involved with JT, Jon has been involved over the decades in multicultural issues at the community and state levels.
